God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla Game Directors Bruno Velazquez and Mihir Sheth sat down in a new video to brief fans on five things to know about the new free DLC ahead of its release today.
Valhalla wasn’t featured in the main Ragnarok campaign, so the new DLC gave Sony Santa Monica an opportunity to explore the location in a new way.
The DLC is meant to be an epilogue for God of War: Ragnarok and on the gameplay side it pulls things off in an interesting way by incorporating roguelike elements into the experience. Not only do different runs offer changes in gameplay, including which weapons to focus on, perks to take, runic attacks to use, and stats to upgrade, but there are also opportunities to learn more about the mysteries of Valhalla and uncover new bits of story.
The DLC also features five different difficulty settings with rewards commensurate with the challenge players opt themselves into.
Players can jump into the DLC at any time and don’t need to worry about story progress to enjoy the new content.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is available today, free to all owners of God of War: Ragnarok on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
