Gloria Victis has a brand new season and a major update to go along with it. The developers have also published a roadmap update, shedding light on the development process of several features in the works and on the way.

The new update, “Season of Feudal Lords”  adds an expanded feudal system that adds more depth to the RvRvR dynamics. Guilds will be able to begin to own locations that they control if they maintain that control and essentially invest in that location. Previously, if a player captured a location, they captured it for their nation, and if they were in a guild, their guild would own it.

The expanded system has a number of new layers to this, first by altering ownership and how it works. Now, a captured location gets assigned to the nation that captures it and ownership is dynamically determined by Fief Points, which guilds earn when members do things to help improve a location. This could mean defeating enemies,  crafting, actively participating in things like building structures or doing quests or events in the area.

Guilds will compete for location ownership now, and there are a number of ways that guilds can get more points and topple ownership by doing so. If your location is captured, if you’re not the guild that beats them back and captures the location again, the points earned by a victorious guild might determine ownership.

If you maintain ownership over a location, you'll earn a number of bonuses, including profits, and special discounts. Of course, the heavy competition means that it won't be easy to keep your territories. Which is the point. A while back, the team was looking into increasing competition and making it more vital and this update surely does that.

To make the system work, there are a number of new rules and adjustments, some are visible like NPCs wearing guild heraldry of a location owner, and others less so. The system is complex, but it should add necessary competition and a correspondingly good amount of loot into the picture to keep things interesting.

This update, the team has also updated its roadmap, with some of the features still in progress being guild islands, ladders for sieges, texture variations on upgradable walls, and more to come. not yet started but on the way are an update to the beginner quests, upgrades to building models, and overhauled foliage graphics.

See the full update details over at Gloria Victis.
