Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut Pulled from Steam in 180 Countries Due to PSN Account Link Policy

Sony’s insistence that Helldivers 2 players on PC must have a linked PSN account blew up on its face recently, rallying the community to push back enough that Sony relented on its stance. However, the entire controversy resulted in Helldivers 2’s delisting from over 170 countries in which PSN is not available.

The same has now happened to Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, another Sony PC port, which is set to release next week. Seeking to avoid the same situation on PC, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut has been pulled from roughly 180 countries on Steam and those who pre-purchased the title in those affected countries have been issued refunds.

While the Helldivers 2 community was up in arms over the PSN situation, Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch shared a post on Twitter/X explaining to fans nervous about the PC port that the game won’t require a PSN account link – at least to play the game’s single player content. Those looking to play its co-op online mode, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, would require a PSN account to be linked.

What doesn’t make sense is why Sony is pushing ahead with this policy at all. If it could be waived for Helldivers 2, why not Ghost of Tsushima?
