Summer Game Fest is fast approaching, and while many speculate on the world premieres we are bound to see, creator and host Geoff Keighley is attempting to reign in some expectations ahead of Friday's show.
Keighley, who created both Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, took to the latter's official Twitch channel to discuss the upcoming showcase. In the Q&A, Keighley tempered expectations of anyone who thinks SGF will be a world premiere marathon. Instead, Keighley says that the show this week will focus more on "existing games," though he does mention that there will still be plenty of new announcements on stage.
In the stream, he reminded fans that The Game Awards typically feature several new game announcements, with the endless drone of "World Premiere" throughout the evening's festivities. As a result, the differing angles of each show keep each different and likely more relevant throughout the year.
Keighley took it a step further and also revealed some games that won't be at SGF, despite fan desire to see updates from their respective development teams. Games like Kingdom Hearts 4, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and a few others won't make the cut, though we will see Monster Hunter Wilds and more this week.
It'll be interesting to see what gets revealed during the show and how much MMORPG fans can look forward to, especially as this summer is already loaded with early access launches, MMO expansions, and more.
