Geoff Keighley Manages Expectations For Summer Game Fest In Recent Twitter Spaces Session

'Primarily Focused' On Already Announced titles

Over the weekend, Summer Game Fest creator Geoff Keighley aimed to reign in expectations of fans expecting bombastic world premieres left and right during this week's Summer Game Fest. The journalist stated in a Twitter Spaces session over the weekend that the SGF will be focused mainly on already announced titles.

The audio sessions (via VGC) has Keighley stating that while the show will include some big hits, viewers shouldn't expect the amount of new major announcements that we typically see from Keighley's other show, The Game Awards.

"What I would say is that a lot of the games we’re going to show you are going to be [already] announced…  games are going to show new content to you, like some of the ones I’ve mentioned," Keighley stated in the Twitter Spaces audio session (transcription via VGC).

While viewers might be disappointed in the fact that many of the titles we'll see later this week during the "Not-E3" weekend, there will still be plenty to look forward to, especially if you're eager to learn more about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or the new Gotham Knights game. Keighley also cautioned viewers that while Xbox will see some play at SGF, the big announcements from Microsoft will likely be held for their own showcase, which takes place on Sunday.

Summer Game Fest will kick off on June 9th and run through June 12th, bringing a sense of E3 back to the month, especially given the latter has canceled its event altogether this year. Keighley expects SGF's showcase to run "around and hour and a half to two hours," so viewers should strap in for the reveals and game news starting on June 9th.
