Genshin Impact’s next big adventure arrives on January 1 with Version 5.3, Incandescent Ode of Resurrection. The New Year's Day update will mark a significant moment for players as Mavuika, the Pyro Archon, becomes playable, showcasing her fire based dual combat styles and powerful Elemental abilities. Players will join her in Natlan’s epic Act V Archon Quest, where the Traveler edges closer to unlocking Pyro powers and faces off against the Abyssal Mimic Dragon, who is shown prominently in the trailer below:
Meanwhile, the Lantern Rite celebration returns to Liyue this year, illuminating Teyvat’s skies as players should be accustomed to by now. Players can enjoy plenty of rewards, including free Primogems, Intertwined Fates, and a 4-star Liyue character. As with most updates, new mini-games and challenges, such as Immortal Combat, will be available for a time to ring in the New Year with. Exclusive outfits for Xiangling and Hu Tao will also be available, with the former available for free through event participation.
For the hero collector in all of us, update 5.3 also introduces Citlali, a 5-star Cryo Catalyst user with unique companions and exploration perks, and Lan Yan, a versatile 4-star Anemo Catalyst from Liyue. If you've missed out on some of the previous faves, Ganyu and Shenhe will also appear in rerun banners.
It didnt' feel like that long ago that we were talking about the impact that Version 5.2 would have on the game, and since then we've seen the launch of Genshin Impact on Xbox, and the promise of 5.3 packing in so much content and quality-of-life improvements, it feels like the perfect way to start the New Year for returning players. If you've missed out on Natlan, you may want to hop in and get caught up before 5.3 hits January 1st.
