While Genshin Impact's 3.4 update is slated release this week, Hoyoverse got a jump on revealing some of the characters you'll be able to play as when Update 3.5 launches later this year.
Update 3.4 is set to launch on January 18th, bringing the next part in HoYoverse's story in Genshin Impact to players worldwide. The update brings Alhaitham, a Dendro 5-star character who wields the Xiphos' Moonlight sword, dealing deadly AoE attacks. Version 3.4 will also focus on a new area in the desert region of Sumeru, the Desert of Hadramaveth, seeing players explore the sandstorm-devastated area as well as a deadly new snake-like boss called the Setekh Wenut.

However, despite version 3.4 being so close to release, HoYoverse is ramping up already on version 3.5 news, revealing via Twitter two of the characters players will be able to take the role of when that update drops. Mika Schmidt, a cryo-wielding character who works as a front-line surveyor of the Knights of Favonius was highlighted. Dubbed the "Coordinates of the Clear Frost," the character will join the Pyro-focused Dehya in version 3.5.

Players might be familiar with Dehya as she appears in the story of Sumeru, with her role obviously taking on a more central role in patch 3.5 with players able to go hands-on with her. Dubbed the "Flame-Mane," she is described as an "Unfettered Desert Mercenary."
While we don't know exactly how these two new characters will handle, we can be sure HoYoverse will showcase them in an upcoming update 3.5 stream after the launch of 3.4.
Genshin Impact is available on PC, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 4/5 for free.
