Genshin Impact’s success continues with the game making $153.4 million in revenue in January alone.
In a press release earlier, it was reported that Genshin Impact had a pretty successful January to kickstart the new year. The data provided was from Safe Betting Sites which reported that Genshin Impact was the fourth highest grossing mobile game worldwide during that month.
Of the $153.4 million in revenue, 33% came from Japan, 25.7% from China, and 17.4% from the United States. In total, Asia accounted for 74% of the total revenue. In fact, Japan ended up as the largest overseas market for Chinese publishers during 2020. This resulted in the top 30 Chinese mobile games to see $2.3 billion from Japan alone.
The report also noted that the highest grossing mobile title globally during January was Honor of Kings. This saw a 22% increase in spending with $267.3 million. Of this, 97% arrived from China, with 1% from Thailand.
Genshin Impact has seen success since launch, however. In the first two months of release, it saw $393 million in revenue. $245 million of that was in its first month, and $60 million of that was within its first week. It’s clear the success of the Breath of the Wild-esque RPG isn’t slowing down.
