Genshin Impact has unveiled the official trailer for Version 5.5, set to launch on March 26th, and it looks like one of the game’s most ambitious updates yet. At the center of the new content is a brand new map featuring the Great Volcano of Tollan. Players will also be able to pick up two new characters and battle a new boss, and plenty more.
The Volcano of Tollan is sprawling, with multiple layers to traverse and you'll be able to explore a sacred city hidden within its smoldering depths. From what the trailer shows, players will be facing some challenges as it seems an eruption may be on the horizon. Of course, keep your eyes peeled for the new boss the Lava Dragon, because it wouldn't be a volcano without a lava dragon.
`During your time in 5.5, you'll also meet the final tribe of Natlan, the Collective of Plenty, who will be instrumental in uncovering the secret to the Flamelord's Blessing. Of course, with another tribe comes a new Saurian companion. The Tatankasaurus is a massive beast that will let you break through dash across water and smash through rocks.
For the hero collectors out there, two new characters will join the roster. Varesa is this updates 5-star character. An Electro Catalyst user with fast-paced attacks, the trailer depicts her with some strange Sonic the Hedgehog vibes. Iansan, a 4-star Electro Polearm user and Veresa's 'coach' provides both healing and attack buffs, so she may be worth picking up if you need an electro support character.
The banner for Phase I will feature Varesa, Iansan, and Xianyun, while Phase II includes Xilonen and Venti, so keep that in mind when it's time for your gacha rolls.
Finally, the seasonal event, “Tournament of Glory in Bloom,” the Bloomflower Trials return and brings Ifa and the rest of the Natlan cast into focus to save a sick Saurian. With plenty of players excited to see more of Ifa, the new content will be great for those looking to get more eyes on the fan favorite character.
The journey into Natlan continues to impress, offering a rich new zone, fresh characters, a heaping helping of bug fixes and quality of life features, and the promise hours of dozens of hours of engaging content.
