Genshin Impact has gone into detail about its new “Chronicled Wish” banner, which allows more flexibility in its pulls throughout its event lifespan. As explained by official Genshin Impact socials, the banner features reruns of characters and weapons from past events, allowing players to work towards either one they want, on top of possibly earning event-exclusive weapons and characters.
Players who earn the Chronicled Wish banner choose which 5-star character or weapon from the predesignated list, and the type of pull you earn from the subsequent banners will match that selection (i.e. if you choose a character, you’ll always get characters). However, if you get a 5-star pull, you earn a “Fate Point” that, at least in this iteration, guarantees your next 5-star pull is your designated.
This banner includes a standard 5-star pity system that guarantees a 5-star item every 90 items. The pity system would carry over if the Chronicled Wish were to come back for another event, but the Fate Points wouldn’t. Of course, this new banner system is especially welcomed by players who are actually wanting to go for specific characters, and, like any banner, for those heavier spenders in a gacha game.
Version 4.5, titled “Blades Weaving Betwixt Brocade,” also includes a new 5-star character to pull named Chiori, a seamstress who fights with two blades, plus a new story quest for her and new limited-time events with special rewards, as previewed during a special stream. The update is out on March 13th.
