Garry Newman has tweeted an uncharacteristically frank statistic for the number of Rust refunds he has handed out. According to Steam sales stats, 329,970 players have requested to have their units refunded totaling $4,382,032 since 2013.

According to Newman, this represents about 6% of the game's total sales which is about par for most other developers to whom he's spoken.
"I put that down to people using the refund system as a demo. I think in the long run, people knowing the refund system is there probably gained us more sales than it lost us." Newman told PCGamesN.
