Gaming Without Women - Your Day May Be a Bit Quieter Today

Today is a big day around the world. It is International Women's Day, a celebratory day for all females -- mothers, sisters, wives, nieces, aunts, daughters, grandmothers, all of us. In 2017 it is also attended by A Day Without a Woman, a movement to bring to the forefront the contributions of women around the world. We're taking time away from our jobs, our financial activities, even our games to show that our contributions matter.

Some will see this as a cheap excuse for a day off or a way to belittle other groups. It is not. It is a way to show that women mean something in this world and that our financial, social and political presence matters. And, yes, it even means that our gaming presence is important, valued and needed. It's something everyone wants and deserves. 

So if your games are a bit quieter, consider why and how much better and more vibrant the worlds you inhabit, including this real one, are with the women in your life. Then go thank a woman who matters to you. I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you did.
