11 bit studios, the developers behind Frostpunk 2, dropped a new gameplay trailer this week giving fans their first close look at gameplay.
Announced in 2021, Frostpunk 2 is the sequel to 2018’s survival city-builder Frostpunk. The original game put players in the role of a leader of a city impacted by a worldwide volcanic winter taking place in an alternative history version of the late 19th century.
Set 30 years after the events of the original game, Frostpunk 2 offers a number of new features including the ability to create entire districts with different purposes, pass impactful laws, and grapple with new kinds of threats stemming from rising social differences.
As the player’s city grows, its populace will organize into different factions with sometimes opposing visions for what the future should look like. In addition to the hallmark stressful decisions made to deal with various crises, the player will need to ensure the city doesn’t tear itself apart due to interfactional conflict.
Frostpunk 2 launches sometime this year on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and day one on Game Pass.
