The developers at 11 Bit Studios have announced that their upcoming city-builder survival title Frostpunk 2 will be pushed back for release with the promise of bigger and better content.
During the beta test about two months ago, players had the opportunity to leave feedback for the devs, and some of that feedback has led them to believe the game needs a bit more polish before it is fully ready for launch. They state,
“Based on the surveys we received from you after playing, the average rating you gave the Beta was 8 out of 10. We’re super grateful for that! At the same time, the Beta was only a small slice of a work-in-progress, still growing game. While our backlog is plentiful, the Beta was an opportunity for us to listen to what you enjoyed, and what didn’t quite land yet. This allowed us to prioritize things better, and bring to the front the features and modifications we were already working on (we hope!) you’ll enjoy the most.”

With that said, the devs state that there was one major fault that needed to be aired out, and that was the fact that there were key features that they wanted to add to the game and “properly do them justice”, hence the need to push back the release date to September 20th. They express their apologies for the bad news, but they truly believe these additional features are with the wait.
These additions include new detailed and flexible workforce management, extensive UI and UX enhancements to places such as Idea Tree and Frostland, and a new feature that was highly requested called Zoom Stories. Zoom Stories were created from feedback given during the beta survey, as players mentioned that shifting the game’s scale caused them to lose attachment to individuals. These Zoom Stories allow us to zoom in and take a closer look at our citizens every day lives as they complete tasks in a specific part of the city.
