Fresh Start Worlds have arrived in Old School RuneScape as of today. All players interested in starting with a fresh economy and a clean slate of world firsts can get started on their grind.

While fresh start server opportunities are live across a number of MMOs right now, this one is a little different from most. While this is a fresh start with a clean economy and a new character, there won’t be any progression bonuses on this special server. This will run like a six-month long event, and once that’s done, your characters will automatically transfer to the main server. This will happen on April 19th and include your items, skill points, and quest points.

While some other fresh start servers are looking to let players experience starting from nothing on a level playing field, they tend to offer accelerated progression with a short time frame. There are no XP boosts or other bonuses, so you'll have to rely on your own skills and build your characters up.

That isn’t to say that there aren’t differences or advantages. For one, the economy is fresh and there for you to have an impact on. Of course, there are those world firsts to try and notch. Might you be the first player to reach a certain level? Maybe. A difference is that on these servers, players will earn achievement points for participating in things like quests or solving clue scrolls. This is something exclusive to Fresh Start accounts and the team acknowledges this is there to motivate players..

While RuneScape is currently running fresh start worlds for four months for its members, the opportunity in Old School RuneScape is available for both free to play players and members.

If you want to know more about the new servers, how to access them, read the announcement over at Old School RuneScape.
