Following some forced server downtime for Fractured Online due to a large dupe exploit and a bad hard drive, the servers have been restored, with a slight rollback for Terra. The team is also teasing more upcoming features from the Endgame Changer update.
As a result into the economy of work the team did to patch the exploit, they were able to stabilize the servers and do some updates that removed 23 million in duped gold from the game. Since they caught the issue early, only about six million of that was ever introduced, but it is all now gone and the exploit patched.
One of the other steps they took in this process had to do with the faulty server hard drive that was hosting Terra. Despite work and an initial optimism that there wouldn't need to be any rollbacks or issues, they found out that the saves that were done after January 13th on Terra were corrupted due to the hard drive issue. They do have a backup system that is supposed to catch errors when saves are written, but because the system was creating corrupted saves, they were still counted as saves. They’ve since had to roll back just Terra by about one day, but only for houses and localized to Terra. If you lost anything in the rollback, they’ll help you get it back.
Despite the issues and work needed to address them, the Fractured Online team also continued to share sneak peeks at some of the content coming in the big update. They’re still planning to release a test build more widely, but until they do, they’re teasing what’s on the way.
Fortresses are the first planned competitive, large-scale PvP content for the game since city sieges. They’re located on Aerhen, with scheduled times that groups can contest them. Successfully contesting these fortresses will mean rewards. The team promises that this is one of many endgame PVE and PVP events planned.
The other teaser revealed today is less elaborate, but there are changes coming to the core system and potions, in addition to UI improvements that include tool tips all over.
