Fractured Online’s latest patch is here, adding launch features like summons, Divine Trials, and the brand new expanded tutorial. All of this arrives with a brand new video breaking down these new features ahead of next week's full release.
The new patch hits the existing server, Genesis. There are still a few additions, improvements, and features that will be added when the full game releases on Wednesday, July 24th.
There are major changes to PvP, to combat big balance issues. On one planet, there weren't enough people opting into PVP so people who were looking for a fight couldn't find one and got bored. On Arboreus, there were too many griefers ruining the experience, especially for newer players and those still on their progression journeys. This also led players to quit, including some large PVE guilds. The previously existing alignment system and the criminal penalties didn't deter things enough.
The new system is simplified. While in a player city, toggle your status to peaceful or aggressive. Peaceful means you can't attack others and no one can attack you. Aggressive means anything goes, and this means only players with their toggle set to aggressive can be attacked or attack others. There will be incentives, like a 25% bonus to divine reward drop rates for aggressive players willing to take the risk, As well as some features and events that will be PVP only.
Other features in the patch include Divine trials, with five available now. The trials are associated with the five different gods, with each trial offering unique rewards. Two trials are open to everyone and three are only open to aggressive players. The more you take on these events, the more favor you can accrue with certain gods.
To encourage continued participation, favor you earn will drop by a little bit each week but if you just keep running the event, not only will you max it out again but you can also earn special abilities bestowed by the god.
There's a lot more detail and the new systems are demoed in the video that the studio put out, and there will be a live Q&A stream on Saturday at 3pm UTC / 11am EDT over on the Fractured Online Twitch channel.
