Fractured Online Outlines Final Launch in June or July, Roadmap Details PvP Overhaul, Summoning, and More

Fractured Online has a new roadmap, with the Dynamight Studios team announcing a timeline for new features and setting a full launch for early summer.

With things getting close to launch, which could be this month or next, there are some important announcements along with the roadmap. First, a new server, codenamed Elysium, will join the current server, Genesis, as the two options at launch. “Hitting full release without it would be a death sentence for the game,” the team says, with the understanding that, for an MMO with a strong PvP component like Fractured Online, having a fresh server and an even playing field available is a must.

Having this will also encourage some groups and guilds to play at all (or to return for launch), which is important, particularly for an independent MMO. Finally, having a fresh economy is also important since the current one has its issues and it wouldn't really be fair to just throw everyone into that mix.

This isn’t where the overhauls end, however. The Demon planet, Tartaros has been scrapped due to a significant PvP overhaul. “The original PvP system of Fractured Online, based on the “3 races, 3 gameplays” motto, has failed on all fronts”, they admit, leading to PvErs leaving and mitigations not working to improve their experience. So the alignment system is changing and Good alignments means you’re excluded from PvP, both planets will now have the same PvP ruleset, and other changes accommodate these new circumstances. They’ve gone into extensive detail in the new devblog. With PvP itself strong, but completely overhauled, the need for a single FFA PvP planet isn’t there now.

If you are looking to compete, enter God Trials, where parts of the map can become Trial of the Gods events. These can be Safe, Lawful, or Lawless (FFA PvP) and lead to various tiers of rewards, including the ability to self-resurrect as a reward for all levels.

The team will be overhauling the tutorial to outline the rule changes, to further develop a larger tutorial island, and to add new quests. Other things we can expect include the addition of Summoning. Using your three summon slots, you can summon creatures under your control to you through unlocking summoning abilities by acquiring knowledge of the creature you want to summon. For example, if you want a bear or wolf, master 100% Hunting. If you want to summon zombies though, hit 100% in Necromancy knowledge.

These are just the more short-term features that we can expect as the game heads towards final launch. Later, they plan on adding guild alliances, competitive seasons, improved city progression, and new playable races. In 2025, expect procedurally-generated dungeons, more PvE and PvP content, and player character transformations.
