The latest Fractured Online community Q&A and development update is here, and the team has made progress on technical upgrades, as well as visual and content work.
One of the major tasks the Happy Cauldron team set out to do was upgrade an outdated and insecure backend. Their migration over to Coherence is happening at a faster than expected pace. They've also added a more granular world streaming system that only loads nearby necessary assets, reducing load on the servers.
The dev video included previews and a sneak peek of visual upgrades, including some improvements to textures and environmental features. There are still many overhauls on the way. Characters are getting completely reworked to be modular, and allowing individual body parts to support partial armor. They're also improving the dye and color system for higher quality, more varied options.
Crafting is going to get a complete overhaul with additional depth, more recipes, and new stuff to learn. They're also redesigning housing items and decor, and they are also working on personal farming versus larger scale farming as part of their plans for professions.
Happy Cauldron has also completed concept art for the Kickstarter reward armor sets.
There is a recap blog that covers the major points from the latest YouTube stream, but if you want to see the previews then you can hit play on the full video.
