A recent report has shown that player spending in Fortnite has increased over the last year.
The report comes from lendedu which looked at the players surveyed and their spending habits. For this study, they found that of the people surveyed, 69% had indicated that they had spent some money in the game in 2018. In 2019, this figure increased to 77%.
Average spending also increased between the 2018 and 2020 studies by 21%, going from $84.67 to $102.42. It was also discovered that 58% of the total money spent by an average spender in 2020 had been spent in the last 12 months.
What’s more, 35% of those who spent money in the 2020 survey had admitted that did not know that in-game purchases did not provide them an advantage over other players. This is an increase from 2018 where 20% of spender were unaware.
The report is some interesting insight into spending habits which show that Fortnite isn’t really slowing down from a financial standpoint, and also that as the game grows, players (at least those who were surveyed) are increasingly becoming unaware that they do not receive an in-game advantage with those items purchased.
