If you hated building in Fortnite, this might be the mode for you. Today, Epic Games announced Fortnite Zero Build, a new fast-paced mode of the popular battle royale, which strips away the building mechanics for a more streamlined version of the game.

Fortnite Zero Build takes away what helped set the battle royale apart from its competitors when it first hit the scene years ago, instead opting for what Epic is calling a "pure test of weapon, item, and traversal ability." Instead of watching your competitors build elaborate structures to block enemy fire as well as out maneuver you, it'll be a pure test of skill against each other.

The new mode stems from the latest season and is apparently here to stay as the developer removed building initially as part of the current season. The new Zero Build mode is now available as its own stand alone mode for players looking for a more level playing field - or just never enjoyed the building mechanics that set Fortnite apart to begin with.

There are a few changes as well with the Zero Build to gameplay as well, as detailed in the blog post:

"Without building, all players have the recharging Overshield as your first line of defense in Zero Build. Zip up Ascenders to access Blimps or use Mantling to get the high-ground over your opponents. Don’t forget to Sprint between cover on your way to a Victory Royale!"

You can check out Fortnite's Zero Build mode on the Discover page with Solo, Duo, Trios, and Squad modes.
