Fortnite is set to unveil a "Rock Band" mode in its upcoming December season, revealed by insider HYPEX.
According to HYPEX, the new music mode will release on December 9 and will be a rhythm game called "Festival" featuring both casual and competitive play. Players will be able to play everything from vocals, to bass, guitar, and drums, with a number of free rewards to unlock.

The mode will reportedly also launch with collaborative tracks with artists such as Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Toto, Alice Cooper, and Imagine Dragons.
While inteesting, this news shouldn't come as a huge surprise. Epic Games acquired Rock Band developer Harmonix back in 2021, after all. The announcement of the acquisition included a quote that hinted at the soon to be released mode:
"Music is already bringing millions of people together in Fortnite, from our emotes to global concerts and events,” said Alain Tascan, Vice President of Game Development at Epic Games. “Together with the Harmonix team we will transform how players experience music, going from passive listeners to active participants.”
It's been an interesting few weeks for Epic's gargantuan battle royale, with the game seeing a huge resurgence in activity around the release of the nostalgic 'Fortnite OG' update only for Epic to damage a lot of the good will and positive sentiment with a head-scratching move around the age restriction of certain cosmetics and skins.
