The cheery anime-inspired roguelite action RPG Starlight Re:Volver has announced its first major public playtest for this weekend. This time, the playtest appears to be fully public, including it being non-NDA’d, as a social media reply by the official account confirms that players will be able to stream.
A new video to Twitter confirms some more of the details. Players can use one of three characters—Effy, Kira, and Ren—to hop into the Sacred Sky biome and test out combat builds. Plus, the major social hub will be available to wander around in as well for chatting and mini-games.

In the playtest’s initial announcement trailer, the team more directly cites not only the “classic anime” vibes as influence, but also the “social MMOs” of the 2000s such as MapleStory and Club Penguin. Indeed, in previous versions and previews of the game, the team has shown off public spaces where players can wander around in their avatars and congregate, including at a cafe featuring an NPC based on popular internet personality LilyPichu.
Players will be able to learn how to join the playtest, happening May 16 to 18, through the game’s socials.
