Old School RuneScape will be getting more Varlamore, including new Herblore training method, a new group boss challenge, and the team is polling on several key proposals.
When the first part of the update launched and everyone was able to go and explore parts of the new Shining Kingdom, players encountered surprise quests. This is one of several issues the team is seeking feedback on, Like whether you want more Varlamore quests, including surprise quests, in the future, since this is something they've been asked, so as with the rest of OSRS development, it gets put to a poll.
A new Herblore activity is on the way for those with 70+ Herblore. The new activity is getting a poll on rewards. Since this is a high-level activity, the rewards have to feel worth the time. Some lower level players might get to participate, but this is generally being looked at as a high level piece of new content. The new training method that they are planning isn't high intensity, since Herblore is by design, so the focus is on rewards over XP.
Also on the way is a new multiplayer PvM experience with a brand new boss. This is designed for 3 to 8 players, but there will be options for solo players or larger groups. This is also high-level content, aimed at players with 90+ total combat level, so the rewards here are also aiming high. Look to bosses like Nex and Scurrius for multiplayer reward structure, and note that they’re looking at 2-3 unique drops from the new boss, not including pets or cosmetics. The rewards will also not be chargeable items, following feedback on this type of reward.
Feedback on the first part and these polls will also have an impact on Varlamore going forward, to part two and beyond.
