Ahead of this weekend’s Server Slam final beta event, the Diablo IV team opened up about post-launch plans, their Seasonal model, Battle Pass(es), cosmetics, and much more.

With launch set for early June, Diablo IV  will get a Seasonal model, with quarterly updates similar to what some of the other Diablo titles have been running for a while now. The first Season will begin in mid to late July.  There’s much more in today's developer stream, including a community Q&A., but the accompanying devblog fills in lots of blanks to start.

What we can expect from all Seasons are new features, more questlines, a Seasonal Battle Pass, new Legendary items, class balance changes, fixes, quality of life improvements, and more. “Seasons will introduce fresh concepts and ideas into the world of Sanctuary,” the team says in a new devblog, “for all wanderers to enjoy while simultaneously iterating upon your baseline experience”.

Order to participate in the first Season, you will need to finish the campaign, so beginning the first Season sometime in July lets everyone get a crack at finishing their first playthrough and to get used to what their version of endgame looks like. The Season Journey will be your guide to everything in the Season, including the new content, everything about the Battle Pass, chapter content, objectives, and rewards.

When it comes to the Battle Pass, There will be 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers. Free tiers can get you cosmetics and Smoldering Ashes, which are the currency you can spend on Seasonal Blessings to give you a boost during the current Season only.

There are two Premium Battle Pass levels, and both will include those additional 63 levels of unlockable rewards. The Premium Battle Pass will be $9.99/1,000 Platinum, and the Accelerated Premium Battle Pass will be 2,800 Platinum / $24.99 a month and feature even more extras, including 20 tier skips, an emote and Platinum allotment.

Cosmetics from the Battle Pass will be class-agnostic, though cosmetics from the Shop will be made for specific classes in mind. Items in the shop will rotate on a regular basis and you can get them by using Platinum. You’ll be able to preview every item, and the algorithm will get to know your style and preferences and begin to recommend particular items to you.
