The Destiny 2 team is back with another This Week in Destiny blog update, covering a number of topics including upcoming Solo Ops missions in Codename: Frontiers, dungeon challenges, recapping the announcement of Destiny: Rising, and more.
Solo Ops were revealed as part of a new developer insight blog published earlier this week. These are 10 minute missions that can be completed either solo or in a group. The goal for Solo Ops are for these missions to be easy for single players to jump into and play and for them to be fun and replayable.
Bungie is shooting for Solo Ops to all have variants for at least two enemy factions, all with different objectives, and often with optional goals such as treasure goblins or secret passageways. These missions will also feature a dynamic enemy spawning system that works similar to the AI director found in games like Left 4 Dead, where a system behind the scenes determines when, where, and how many enemies should spawn in depending on what is going on in the mission.
