Unfortunately news for those looking forward to Final Fantasy’s Japanese Fan Festival as it has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
The statement was released earlier by Square Enix,
“In light of the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Japanese Fan Festival that was due to take place in Nagoya on December 19 and 20. Though we deeply regret the disappointment this will cause those of you who were looking forward to the event, we believe that protecting the health and well-being of our fans, performers, and event staff is of the utmost importance.”
This follows the cancellation of the North American festival. The team actually tried to see if there were other dates and such in which to hold the festival, but to no avail,
“Like the cancellation of the North American Fan Festival announced last month, we are looking into potential dates, cities, and venues for rescheduling the Japanese Fan Festival. We ask you to please wait for further information.”
In case you missed it, Final Fantasy XIV is going free to play up to level 60 as was announced yesterday. For more details on that plus other announcements, check out our summary article here.
