Patch 6.4 for Final Fantasy XIV, The Dark Throne, comes next week, and Square Enix has released its preliminary patch notes for players to pour over while they wait.

Like all of FFXIV's preliminary patch notes, today's update doesn't reveal all about the upcoming 6.4 patch. Rather it acts as a way for players to start getting ready for what is to come, including giving a clearer idea of how many quests there are in the Main Story Quest chain, and more.

Some of the highlights include graphics updates for quest icons that help denote escort quests, as well as adjustments made to players' Island Sanctuaries. With the new update, Island Sanctuaries now can achieve a max rank of 16, while new construction plots can be unlocked through progression. Players will also see the max number of minions that can be supported from 40 to 50.

From the questing side of things, we got a bit more information on the Pandæmonium: Anabaseios raid dungeon being added, specifically, information on the items players can expect to earn while running through the new content. Instead of gear, the chests in Pandæmonium: Anabaseios will feature tokens that can be traded for gear after the completion of the raid.

Patch 6.4 also sees the inclusion of the new The Voidcast Dais, an eight-player trial for end-game players. The Aetherfont also is added with 6.4, which is a new dungeon players can tackle after completing part of the new Main Story Quests.

You can check out the full preliminary patch notes on the Final Fantasy XIV website. Path 6.4, The Dark Throne, releases on May 23rd.
