We finally have a date for Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.4, The Dark Throne. The update will go live on May 23rd. Today’s Letter from the Producer stream not only revealed the launch date, but a new trailer, with tons more details.
The brand new trailer goes headfirst right into the darkness of the update.
With an ominous title like The Dark Throne, this is no surprise. Today’s stream went further into some of the updates and new content to come, including some of what will come later in the 6.4x patch series.
The special minisite for the upcoming patch also gets some updates, with much more details on what we can expect. There will be new Main Story Quests, side quests, a new Trial, The Voidcast Dais, a new Unreal Trial, Containment Bay Z1T79, and much more.
For the MSQ, there’s struggle ahead:
“With a gambit that would cost them their very lives, the archfiends Cagnazzo and Rubicante succeeded in destroying the voidgate hidden within the depths of Alzadaal's Legacy, thus barring the path to the Thirteenth. Yet where there is a will, there is a way-and so the Warrior of Light and allies continue the search for a new means to reach the void”.
Some other things to expect are new PvP updates, including PvP Series 4, which will begin alongside Crystalline Conflict Season 7. Frontline will see adjustments to the Fields of Glory rules, including a new UI tweak to make it easier to track scoring and match time.
Island Sanctuary is getting a big update, including new Sanctuary ranks, new craftable items, crops, animals, and the introduction of the ability to place outdoor Furnishings near your structures. Another update is coming to Ocean fishing, there will be a new route near Kugane.
Previously announced were expansion of the Duty Support System, and the Blue Mage update, which got new details today. The level cap will be raised to 80 and there will be new Blue Mage exclusive gear and new enemies to challenge.
In 6.45, there will be a new Variant Dungeon and new Criterion Dungeon – Mount Rokkon. Each willlwork with their own rulesets, With the variant dungeon having scaling enemy difficulty depending on your party size of 1 through 4. The Criterion dungeon will be for four players and feature consistent content.
