Final Fantasy XIV’s extension into the tabletop RPG category isn’t even officially out yet, but it has already gone into a second printing. Demand has been so high for the game, based on A Realm Reborn, before its official release set for later in May, that Square Enix has already announced the reprint.

The starter set Is priced at $59.99, and lets you take on the role of a pre-made character or to make your own. If you choose from the pre-mades, you can pick from a Black Mage, Dragoon, Warrior, or White Mage. The set includes the player book to learn all the rules and a Gamemaster book features three pre-made scenarios that tie into the Final Fantasy XIV main story, and advice how to craft additional scenarios and run the game. The set also includes everything else you need to play including character sheets for those pre-made classes, custom designed dice, a map, character tokens ability markers, and additional rules and strategy guide.

The official preorder page says that Wave 2 will be released in October. The FF14 TTRPG was originally announced last fall as part of the 10th anniversary for A Realm Reborn. It’s no surprise that the effort to bring Final Fantasy XIV to tabletop has already been so successful, even before it’s out. The community is one of the most dedicated out there, and tabletop RPGs have become wildly popular.

Leveraging the massive global success of Final Fantasy XIV with a tabletop set makes perfect sense. Other MMORPGs have also entered the tabletop space, with RuneScape and The Secret World both making the leap.
