Final Fantasy XIV is getting a new Letter from the Producer Live next week, and of course, Dawntrail’s release in early July. To prepare for another sure to be huge launch, Square Enix has just announced an expansion of the North American Data Center, along with details for the new servers.
There will be four new servers opening up on June 11th, at around 3am PDT, all four on the Dynamis Data Center. With the additional capacity, the team is once again offering and sweetening the chance to create characters on or transfer over to one of the new servers until the populations there balance out. Still, there will be at least 90 days of incentives, which will also clearly overlap the July 2nd Dawntrail launch. Bonuses include Double EXP until Level 80, 10 silver Chocobo feathers, and, if you haven’t had them before on your account, a million gil and 15 days of playtime.
With the opening of some new servers, there are also considerations for housing. The FF14 team will be starting another housing lottery to select those who will be able to purchase plots. This process will begin at 8am PDT on June 11th, a few hours after the new servers open.
There will be both free company plots in Wards 1-9 and private plots in Wards 10-24. you can enter on behalf of a company or on your own behalf. With four new servers and a new housing lottery open on each, buying a house doesn’t ever get easy in Final Fantasy XIV, but more opportunities are always welcome.
With the new servers opening weeks before Dawntrail launches, and while the team has been dealing with DDoS attacks, having a couple of weeks to get any issues sorted out and for everyone to prepare for the new content is a smart approach.
