Housing fans and potential homebuyers have something to look forward to in the latest Final Fantasy XIV update, with new housing wards added when 6.3 drops. Square Enix revealed today exactly when that will happen after the launch of the new patch.
Players can start to claim houses in the new neighborhoods on January 15th, so a few days after the release of Patch 6.3 "Gods Revel, Lands Tremble." the new housing wards will be available to private buyers or free companies alike and will be part of a lottery system to purchase. The post also states that apartments will also open up in all of the various wards.
Housing can be a pain to get into with Final Fantasy XIV, with plots limited thanks to server space. As Square Enix has upgraded its servers over the past few years, new housing plots have been made available, and while we won't see a mad dash to claim plots, the lottery system might make those who have been waiting for their opportunity a little upset if they still don't get the chance to move out of that apartment and into their own home.
Either way, the new housing wards will open on January 15th, five days after the launch of 6.3, so players will have some time to kill in between 6.3's launch and when to start the home-buying process. Let's just hope the Lottery system holds up this time compared to when 6.1 launched a year ago.
