Final Fantasy XIV fans have been waiting for patch 5.1 for quite some time now, and with its release coming later this month (still not date given, though), Square Enix is started to peel back the veil on some of the updates players will see. As such, the Performance feature, will be getting an upgrade and was detailed today by the team.

The Performance system, for those who are new to Final Fantasy XIV, is a system that allowed players to create musical performances, or simply host a jam session. FFXIV's forthcoming 5.1 patch will see new upgrades brought to the system, including changes to how ensembles can stay in time thanks to a new metronome, new instruments, (such as a trumpet, trombone, and the venerable woodwind, the saxophone), and more.

Additionally, selecting a new song in Performance Assist will help teach players how to master a new song for their next performance. Using color coded notes, the new system will help players get the correct timings as you play them.

You can check out the full details on the Final Fantasy XIV blog. Additionally, for those interested in 5.1 details, a new Letter from the Producer LIVE will be taking place on October 18th at 4am PDT on Twitch.
