Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.3 'Reflections in Crystal' Release Date Announced

Delayed by Nearly Two Months Due to COVID-19

The delayed Patch 5.3 - 'Reflections in Crystal' for Final Fantasy XIV, originally scheduled to release on June 16th, has been scheduled to now release on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

In the latest Letter from the Producer, LXIV published today, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida gave players an update on development of the next major patch for Final Fantasy XIV.

First, I would like to apologize again to all of our players for the delay of Patch 5.3?Reflections in Crystal, which was originally scheduled to release on June 16th.Although our development and operations teams, as well as QA testing, have experienced a number of setbacks due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), I am pleased to inform you that development production is back on course, and we’ve settled on a new patch release schedule.As of now, Patch 5.3?Reflections in Crystal is scheduled to release on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

Naoki Yoshida also gave an update to the team's work-from-home situation, saying that everything "is now securely established, and we plan to return to our regular release schedule of roughly every three and a half months after Patch 5.3" Meaning that Patch 5.4 should be released around Thanksgiving time. Coming later this month, there will be additional interviews and updates to the 5.3 special site as well as the next Letter from the Producer LIVE taking place in three weeks, on July 22nd.
