Final Fantasy XIV will launch on Xbox on March 21st, as announced on today’s Xbox Partner Showcase. Potential Xbox Warriors of Light only have just a couple more weeks until they can start (or continue) their journeys in Eorzea.
The date confirmation came via a new Xbox trailer released on the Xbox showcase with a date reveal at the end. Open beta launched for the Xbox Series X|S release back on February 21st, and was specifically targeted at those who did not already have an existing account. At that time, Square Enix asked those who were already Final Fantasy XIV players on another platform to wait until the full launch to link their accounts and of course, to play. Until today, we didn’t have a date for that full launch, but the wait is almost over.
First announced for Xbox at Fan Festival last year, but this release is an anticipated one, with many wishing that Sony and Microsoft would make good and release the MMORPG on the platform for years. Back in January, the Xbox Wire mistakenly posted that the open Beta had gone live, before retracting that post and saying that an announcement would be coming soon.
While the open beta did not require Game Pass, when the full launch happens on March 21st, a subscription to both Final Fantasy XIV and a Game Pass membership will both be required.
