Final Fantasy XI is marking its 22nd Vana’versary, celebrating its original Japanese launch. There’s a login campaign with goodies, a welcome back campaign, and a new battlefield.
The brand new battlefield, Wing of War, is now live with today’s update. You will have to have completed The Voracious Resurgence, and you need to have the Wing of War and master breaker key in your possession in order to join the instance. You'll also need to have a main job level of 99 and a Job Master title. Get a group together of 3 to 6 players and you have one hour to take on the instanced content.
The monthly refreshes to Records of Eminence and Ambuscade are also in today’s update. While the game has scaled down active development, there are still things the team is working on, in addition to monthly refreshes, and events.
Speaking of events, the Return Home to Vana'diel campaign is on now through May 20th. if you are a past subscriber, and meet eligibility, you'll be able to jump into Final Fantasy XI for free during the event. There's a series of events and campaigns for the 22nd anniversary that you can take part in as well.
The 22nd anniversary is here, and there are eight distinct event campaigns to take advantage of to celebrate the anniversary. Many of these bring back items and rewards from the past for a limited time. The 22nd anniversary event, Mandragora Mania Madness is open for you to get yourself a moogle shirt and other items. The May login campaign offers the Dispatcher’s Axe. A weekly login campaign, Adventurer Gratitude, will also offer some special helpful items.
There’s even a special Records of Eminence event, Working Together Across Worlds - Vana’Bout, that lets players earn points that go to a global total. If everyone completes enough objectives and reaches the goal number of points for the whole campaign, everyone gets rewarded.
For the 22nd anniversary, a number of items and services are also on sale, including World transfer and expansion content.
