They say if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life, and apparently, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi really does stop working in order to get his fill of Final Fantasy XIV.
According to GamesRadar, Sakaguchi was still playing FFXIV Dawntrail just minutes prior to his big interview with Bloomberg. Not only does this show insane dedication, as he admits to playing for upwards of 12 hours per day, but it also shows that Sakaguchi might have a bit of a bad habit on his hands.
This was confirmed by employees actually having to message him in-game in order to remind him of meetings he needed to attend that day, though Sakaguchi states that this only happened on very rare occasions. Sakaguchi also mentioned that in the past, his coworkers have told him that he plays the title entirely too much, but it is funny to know that some of those aggressive DMs were sent to the creator in-game rather than in real life.
Other than his comical scoldings about playing too much Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi has made his way back to Square Enix after 20 years, and though he won’t be working on FFXIV, he does have plans to revive Terra Battle at some point.
