Finally, the primal-battling Warrior of Light of Final Fantasy 14 gets to meet… well, spoilers, of Final Fantasy 16. At PAX East, the dates for FFXIV’s in-game crossover with FFXVI have been announced as April 2nd, through May 5th.
Previously, the crossover was just teased as taking place in early April. These precise dates give a better idea of how long we’ll have, which is a solid amount of time and relatively standard for the crossovers that take place in FFXIV.
Jokes galore have been made by Final Fantasy 16 executive producer Naoki Yoshida, who claims to be working closely with Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida on bringing this collaboration to life. (The joke is that they are the exact same person.) More than anything, it’s more likely that there were just obstacles in development, logistics and the like for both games.
The team unveiled some of the primary details of this crossover at the London Fan Festival this past October. In the crossover, Clive travels to Eorzea, though we’re not exactly sure for now what this entails. The trailer shows the protagonist fighting Ifrit, but… spoilers again.
It seems there are some cool rewards, including Clive’s armor, a Torgal mount, and a cute little Torgal puppy minion.
At the panel, Yoshida also announced the release date for the last expansion, Dawntrail. Early access begins June 28th, and full launch is July 2nd.
