If you’re one of Final Fantasy 14’s infamous Fantasia addicts, get ready: FFXIV is getting some nifty updates to the character change system, as announced in last night’s Letter from the Producer Live. Mainly, players will be allowed to update their characters again for an hour of gameplay time after the initial changes are locked in, and we’ll all be getting a new Fantasia-giving quest to try it out with.
To reiterate, the redo timer is not an hour in real-time but in playtime. That means if you log off five minutes later and progress for forty-five minutes, that’ll count for fifty minutes, so you’ll have an extra ten minutes to hop back in and give it a go. It’s pertinent to mention that you can check your current playtime count by using the “/playtime” command.
Other details aren’t precise yet, but it’s a welcome set of changes for those who really put the time into their characters. As noted in the Live Letter, players often emerge from the character maker—which is now infamous for its poor lighting—and literally see their characters in a different light. With the new system, you won’t have to spend another few real-life dollars to amend this.
Plus, there’ll be a free Fantasia given out in-game that explains how they’re used. It seems this will be handed out on top of the free Fantasia given at the end of A Realm Reborn, so players have a few chances to look great before continuing into the acclaimed Heavensward expansion and beyond.
It’s not clarified, though, whether this Fantasia is on top of the one promised for Dawntrail, though it’s implied this is how it’ll be distributed.
Given the ongoing updates and improvements to the characters, including a rerelease of the Benchmark, are you going to change your Warrior of Light for Dawntrail?
