The Yo-Kai Watch event is set to begin today in Final Fantasy XIV, and with it comes new quests, a hefty amount of new minions, and FATEs to complete along the way for Yo-Kai Medals.

These crossover collaboration events are something players of Final Fantasy XIV are no strangers to, and the Yo-Kai Watch event brings another collaboration this year. The last time players enjoyed this Watch event was back in 2020, and this interesting event allows players to earn a plethora of minions to watch over them as they play through the game.

In order to begin the questline, players must be at least level 15 and head over to Ul’Dah to speak with the Poor-Heeled Youth on the Steps of Nald. Once that initial quest is completed, players will be given a Yo-Kai Watch and Yo-Kai Medallium that allows them to obtain Yo-Kai Medals through different means.

Throughout the different zones, there will be special FATEs that only those equipped with the Yo-Kai Watch will have access to. Completing these missions will grant Yo-Kai Medals that can be used to purchase 17 different Yo-Kai. In order to begin summoning the new minions, players will need to collect at least 13, and then they will also be rewarded with the new Whisper-go mount.

After all 17 minions are collected, yet another reward will be granted, as players can earn a Framers Kit by collecting each minion. The Portrait Kit allows players to curate still images of their character on their public portrait, and customize it with different emotes, backgrounds, decor, and more to give it their own personal flair.

If you are looking for even more rewards, Legendary Medals can also be redeemed for some intense-looking weapons. These Medals can only be obtained through completing specific FATEs while traveling with your Yo-Kai minion that corresponds to the Yo-Kai weapon you're after. Using the Yo-Kai Medallium will give the information needed to locate not only the specific FATE players are after for the weapon, but which Yo-Kai is needed to possibly obtain the Legendary Jibanyan Medals.

This event is of course leading up to the latest expansion in Final Fantasy XIV, Dawntrail, but it isn't the only thing to look forward to before the release, as there is an entire roadmap teeming with events and updates for players to enjoy.
