With nearly three months between us and Final Fantasy 14’s last major patch, the news of what’s to come was, and is, inevitable. The next Letter from the Producer Live, known among fans as the “Live Letter,” is planned for this Friday, February 7.
An announcement claims that this Live Letter will go over Patch 7.2 contents, which means we’ll get at least a basic overview of what’s to come.
The Letter from the Producer Live also tends to go over upcoming releases of real-life merchandise, as well as possible upcoming events. We know they’ve talked about wanting to do more Fanfests, so fans are on edge about hearing more dates.
The letter goes, well, live on Friday the 7th at 3:00 a.m. PST over on Twitch or YouTube. (That may seem early/late for Americans, but as a reminder, this happens in Japan, where it’s 8:00 p.m.) They tend to go for at least two hours, so make room in that schedule.
When it comes to the actual 7.2 patch, there are some definitely consistent patterns we know from prior expansions, and we should probably expect them unless hell suddenly froze into Creative Business Unit 3’s studios. For one, of course, we’ll get the Main Scenario Quests, which give more of the story that’s continuing on from Dawntrail’s ending. We’ve already seen a surprise return of a character, and now we’re looking for answers.
Any X.2 patch also comes with a new iteration of the current main Raid series. That means we’ll see more stylish fighters in the Arcadion arena as the Warrior of Light fights for the dark truth behind the soul-powered wrestling matches. Two weeks after the main Raids come out, we’ll also see the Savage iterations of them for the high-end raiders to learn and progress through.
Until then, we’ll see a sub-patch or two and probably more events to entice players to return. FFXIV has a habit of recycling old events towards the end of patch cycles, and the Moogle Treasure Trove will certainly make a return, letting players get one or two new items and a, well, trove of older, harder-to-get things.
We’re likely to see the patch drop in mid-March.
