Final Fantasy 14’s annual Moonfire Faire summer event makes its return for 2024, with a new emote and housing item available for finishing the quests.
Per the event page, this year’s big-ticket item is an emote called “uchiwasshoi.” So far, from both the description and the key art, it seems that this allows the user to wave a giant fan—and given giant bombs are again prominent in the art, it may have to do with the quest objectives and theme. Maybe players need to fan away the bombs!
This seems to be some kind of spin-off of the “wasshoi” emote, only made available through the Optional Item Store. The chant “wasshoi,” which is basically “heave-ho!”, is used in specific group festival events, such as carrying floats or shrines, when a group needs to carry things in unison. However, it’s not exactly clear on the English side what “uchiwasshoi” implies—a self-hype? Hyping the squad? It looks fun, though.
There’ll also be an indoor housing item called the “Bouncing Bomb Balloon,” which appears to literally bounce on whatever surface it’s on from the description.
It’s unclear if the infamous jumping puzzle will return this year. However, chances are that the Optional Item Store sales for previous Moonfire Faire events will return, which means that the ranger costume from last year’s will be available for real-life money.
