A lot of Final Fantasy 14’s most hotly-anticipated content is dropping with the 7.2X patch cycle, and the next big drop is already upon us. Per the Lodestone’s maintenance announcement, we now know that 7.21 is coming this week with the Cosmic Exploration game mode.
Cosmic Exploration is the newest in what one would probably call “perpetual” or “grindy” content, letting crafters and gatherers build bases on the moon and, eventually, on planets beyond. The big perk of this one over other content like Ishgardian Restoration and Island Sanctuary will be co-op play; one player will even be chosen to ride a giant mecha sometimes.
The requirements for Cosmic Exploration, as far as we know, will be to have at least a level 10 Crafter or Gatherer. For those who’re further, it’ll let you dig into the grind for the top-tier Cosmic Tools.
All of this is coming on April 22nd, after maintenance this Monday, with an estimated completion time of 3:00 a.m. PDT, though the Lodestone page does say completion time is subject to change, so it could be up early.
The core FFXIV 7.20 core patch is pretty good, actually, but a lot of players may also be holding out for other content such as Crescent Isle or the Hildibrand series, both in 7.25. Players can see all of what’s coming on the official FFXIV site.
