A new interview with Final Fantasy XIV Web Director Hiroyuki Takachi gives us a behinds the scenes look at what goes on in upkeeping Lodestone.
Takachi is in charge of the Lodestone team who create and maintain the site in addition to handling promos, site patches, the Mog station, and online store. Lodestone is actually comprised of several different sites and features like the Character Profile and Eorzea Database.
However, even though Lodestone has several features now, it wasn’t always this way as Takachi notes,
“I emphasize two main goals: building community and relaying information. Building community can be seen in the Blog feature, which allows players to interact with each other even if they're not logged into the game. Relaying information is achieved through the Eorzea Database and the ability to see the latest notices and news for the game. I also thought it might be exciting for players to be able t0 view their character information outside of the game.”
The interview is a pretty good insight into just how much goes on behind the scenes even for websites of the games we play. You can read the full interview here.
