You’ve heard of MMOs, MOBAs, and ARPGs, but Chief Rebel, a studio loaded with industry veterans, is introducing the “MODA”. Enter Fellowship, an upcoming PvE dungeon crawling experience that intentionally blends the fun elements of those genres into a new title that streamlines the experience, lower the barrier to entry, and still offers an extensive hero roster, team focused and cooperative gameplay, a challenging experience, but also one that fits your time and isn't endlessly grindy.
Instead of spending time grinding your way into qualifying to participate in endgame content, repeating dungeon runs and teaming up with others as a cap on the experience, Fellowship intends that to be the experience. So you won't have to grind your way up through a bunch of prerequisites in order to go on dungeon runs with your friends. They're calling it a Multiplayer Online Dungeon Adventure (MODA) in a fantasy setting.
Fellowship will center around four-player co-op multiplayer, and you'll be able to swap between a pool of heroes with various kits, to both balance out your team and choose something that aligns with your preferred playstyle. Strategize, take on enemies together, learn the mechanics, and grow. Dungeons are endlessly scaling and the team plans to add more content over time to keep things fresh. Fellowship has a planned release on PC in 2025, published by Arc Games, and will launch as a premium title with no subscriptions or free to play mechanics.
The game will also offer several modes to pick from what you prefer, and even what you have time for.
Quick Play dungeons will let you do a dungeon run in 10 to 15 minutes. Maybe you have some time on your lunch break and you and your buddies want to get in and get out and hope you get lucky with some good drops. Ranked dungeons will offer those who are interested in competition to play through a range of options. There will be settings that let you scale dungeon difficulty and choose from additional modifiers to make the experience your own.
Chief Rebel also announced a closed alpha playtest via Steam starting on August 15th through August 20th. This first test will feature six of the game’s heroes –two tanks, two DPS, and two healers. Signups are open now.
