Fallout London Will Not Work With Epic Games Store Versions Of Fallout 4 When It Finally Launches

The team creating Fallout: London has yet another stick thrown into their wheels as the Fallout 4 next-gen updates causes even more issues for them.

Just a few months ago, Bethesda announced the release of their Fallout 4 next-gen update, which just so happened to be going live two days prior to the Fallout: London mod making its debut. This threw a wrench in the teams plans, but they took it to the chin and pressed on. As a result of the issues the next-gen patch caused, Bethesda has unknowingly tossed another wrench, as the Fallout London team announced that in order to save their mod after the new update, players will need to use an older version of Fallout 4’s base game.

This sounds quite simple to do, but for those who play the RPG through the Epic Games Store, it isn’t as simple. The Epic Games Store doesn’t support update rollbacks, meaning that players who utilize this platform won’t have the option to use previous versions of Fallout 4. When the Fallout: London mod initially launches, Epic users will not have access.

The Fallout: London developers mentioned that at this point in time, Fallout 4’s next-gen update is a bit unstable, and due to that instability, players will in fact need to downgrade. According to VG247, the devs state,

“What with us having things break due to the next-gen [update] and then needing the 3rd parties to update, then waiting for them to be fixed, only for the fact that at the 11th hour we've discovered that the next-gen [version of Fallout 4], even after updates, isn't stable enough and thus we are now going out on the old version - [hence] the need for a downgrader.”

Though this does put a damper on things for anyone that plays Fallout 4 through the Epic Games Store, hopefully there will be a fix for this in the near future as Bethesda begins to fix the known issues after the release of the next-gen update.
