Fallout 76 is expanding its East Coast horizons—this time by moving south, into the Skyline Valley. The next free update for the Fallout multiplayer game takes place in the southern Appalachians, specifically the Virginian valleys of Shenandoah (once again, a real life location, likely generously interpreted for the fictional game).
This new region will have features open for players of all levels, including an electric storm weather that strikes down on the environment (and possibly Dwellers) and a new event called Dangerous Pastimes. There’s also a new NPC vault, Vault 63, for players to visit, including its Overseer, representing one of many new “electrified” Dwellers called the Lost, and giant robots that could give a bit of a shock.
A specific callout worth a moment is the Thrasher, which is, in short, a Fallout turkey. But evidently, the team has done its research, because there’s nothing in the mundane American overworld more menacing than an American turkey, and I absolutely would not get in one’s way, let alone one with the good ol’ Fallout treatment.
Per to the official preview blog, only have “this June” as an official release date thus far for this new free update, though it’s currently on the Public Test Server if you want to give it a go before then.
In general, it's a good time to get into Fallout 76, as you'll be joining over a million new players who just joined in the wake of Amazon's hit Fallout show.
