The massive fan-made Fallout London mod is highly anticipated, and although it was scheduled to be released already, a bit of a mixup between them and Bethesda has caused a bit of tension.
Fallout London is a huge mod that brings players to, you most likely guessed it, London. With new quest lines, dialogue, and NPCs, it's basically a standalone expansion created by Dean Carter and his team. The team announced they would be releasing the mod on April 23rd, but Bethesda decided to also announce that Fallout 4 would be getting its major update on April 25th around the same time.
This created a bit of a stir with Carter and his team, as they realized they would need to push the date back a bit to not attempt to compete with the Fallout 4 update. Today, Dean Carter took part in a short interview with BBC, where he mentioned that Bethesda gave them no prior notice of the next-gen update, which “for lack of a better term, screwed us over” he says.
In regards to this seemingly “suspicious” release date for next-gen Fallout 4, Carter states,
“I don't want to say 'suspect' because that makes it sound malicious. But if you were a big corporation and there was a fantastic [Fallout TV] series that just came out, you think you'd coalign it and have the big update ready on the same day the series comes out. don't think it's malicious, but it seems like a very arbitrary date for them to drop.”
At the time of writing, there is no new update on when Fallout London will release, but one thing is clear; Carter just wanted more open lines of communication from Bethesda since their project has gained a lot of traction. The team is not a part of the verified creator program, but even still, Carter believes that with the clout surrounding their mod, it couldn’t have hurt for the developers to contact them so they didn’t lose traction before even running up the hill.
