Do you recall the MMORPG Face of Mankind? If not, you're not to blame as the game shut down nearly a decade ago. However, some fans not only remember but are hard at work on an ambitious revival project titled Empire Rising

Since the game's closure in August of 2015, dedicated community members have undertaken the challenge of bringing the oldschool, player-driven universe back to life through emulation. The project, spearheaded by a small but passionate team of nine developers, began its open development in 2024 and is now deep into its private Phase II testing, featuring nearly 100 active testers exploring the expansive world. The team has detailed all of this on a recent Reddit post, stating that more information is to come and to stay tuned to their website for more information.

The website allows for players to join the Beta, though it also states an open Alpha is still on the way. As for the current state of the game, players can already experience core functionalities such as character creation, faction selection, working weapon and armor systems, apartment ownership, and an operational economy. The developers have outlined Significant milestones achieved, which include fully operational environments across iconic locations like Manhattan, Tokyo, Paris, and the distant frontier of Pegasi 51. The game still needs plenty of work, including the multiplayers functionality, but the team has made many strides since they began redeveloping the game.

They've also noted that there have been some additions to the revival. A fresh narrativec set in the Global Dominion's future that spans centuries will be a cornerstone of the new lore that will enrich the expereince expecially for players that remember the original game. The revival is officially scheduled for a public release in August 2025, so keep the eyes of your own mankind faces peeled for more updates leading up to the release.
