The dinosaur-filled FPS Exoprimal is heading into its third season, and the director Takuro Hiraoka, hints at the possibility of bringing the wrath and strength of the Rathalos from Monster Hunter to the game.
Exoprimal is an interesting game, to say the least, as it takes a looter shooter-type game and throws it somewhere in the middle of a bullet hell. Taking on hordes of extremely aggressive and bloodthirsty dinos while using an Exosuit can be thrilling and inherently difficult.
On January 18, 2024, Exoprimal will be entering its third season, and with it comes a crossover that nobody expected: Monster Hunter but within the world of the dinosaurs. For those who aren’t familiar with the franchise, Monster Hunter is a game that brings players on a journey through uncharted lands teeming with treacherous creatures that take eons to defeat.
Rathalos are within the realm of Monster Hunter and are very aggressive species that have no qualms about attacking innocent travelers who stand in their way. Destructoid had a chance to ask Hiraoka a few questions about the collaboration, and they stated,
“In terms of combat, we decided to feature one of the Monster Hunter series’ most iconic monsters. Instead of simply creating a battle scenario with Rathalos in the Exoprimal universe, we infused elements that allow players to feel the essence of the Monster Hunter series.”
While the director was unable to answer whether or not there will be more collabs with Capcom in the future, this interesting dynamic duo might be a fun change of pace to the co-op shooter.
